Thelma Todd And Raquel Torres Photos In A Fan Magazine

Pictures from a foreign fan magazine of Thelma Todd as Venus from the 1927 First National production VAMPING VENUS and of Raquel Torres from one of her movies.

Jorge Finkielman: When they say that Thelma Todd is an MGM star, that is because they ( MGM ) actually distributed the First National productions in Latin America.

A gag picture of Thelma Todd taken on the set of BRATS, which was scaled to make Laurel and Hardy look like little children.

Special thanks to Jorge Finkielman for providing us with these photos.

Autographed Thelma Todd Photo

An autographed photo of Thelma Todd from early in her career.

An enlarged view of the autograph.

Here her name is signed with a separate letter "T" for both the first and last names. Later on her signature would often have one letter T for both the first and last names, which were arranged with the remaining letters of one over the other in order to make it work.

SPEAK EASILY

Thelma Todd, Jimmy Durante, Buster Keaton, and Hedda Hopper in a publicity photo for SPEAK EASILY. There is no such scene in the actual movie.

Publicity claimed that Hedda Hopper in this movie dressed like Elsie Janis. I wouldn't know.

SPEAK EASILY Photo

Thelma Todd with Buster Keaton in a publicity photo from SPEAK EASILY. During this period MGM charged that Buster Keaton was immoral, which seems to have been one of the things that led to his dismissal from that studio. But the same studio was also responsible for Keaton's films becoming less innocent than they had been in the silent era.

Ruth Selwyn Photo

Ruth Selwyn was the feminine lead in SPEAK EASILY. Here is a picture of her from THE NEW MOVIE MAGAZINE.

SPEAK EASILY Ad

British film mag Dec. 1932. SPEAK EASILY didn't actually have Jimmy Durante and Buster Keaton both in love with Thelma Todd, but they could have had it that way in the movie. It might even have been better. But Thelma Todd was always playing an "other woman" in the movies, so they did that here, too, and Ruth Selwyn played Buster Keaton's true love.
