HORSE FEATHERS At Kentucky Theater 1932

Notice Betty Boop poster at right. The Fleischer cartoons were distributed by Paramount until they foreclosed on them and took over the studio in a move that was probably illegal. A Will Rogers movie is also being advertised. He was a top star in this period.

OLLY OF THE MOVIES - FAMOUS FUNNIES #34

This time the strip is mentioned on the cover.

Olly and her roomate can't pay the rent, a problem many people had during the depression.

"Sheik" is a sort of Rudolph Valentino reference, although by this time it was a type, rather than an individual.

Spanish Language CORSAIR Ad

An ad for CORSAIR from a Spanish language newspaper. American movies were very popular in Latin America and Spanish language versions of some movies were even produced for that market during this period. But I don't know if CORSAIR fared any better in other countries than it did here.

CORSAIR Poster ( Spanish )

Spanish poster for CORSAIR, with the alternate title MODERN PIRATE. Note that Thelma Todd is billed as "Alison Loyd". The girl on the poster was not intended as an accurate representation of Thelma Todd and is more of a generic pretty girl for the period.
