Rudy Schafer was the son of the manager of the Sidewalk Cafe. Both his father and his grandfather had had the same name. In 2002 Rudy Schafer returned to vistit the Sidewalk Cafe where he had played when he was a boy. He took some pictures and sent them to me, along with this message:
Rudy Schafer is gone now, but some of his memories remain with us today.

I was married to the adopted daughter of Rudy Shafer for several years, He was roland west's brother-in-law and worked for lucky.. I was told by my ex-wife that her father,Rudy confessed on his deathbed that he knocked her unconcious and restarted her car, leaving her inside.
It sounds to me like somebody got things confused. The usual version of this story is that Roland West supposedly made the deathbed confession.
