POPEYE'S HOW TO DRAW CARTOONS is a little book that shows you how to do just that. The author was one of the artists who worked on the Popeye comic strip, which had been originated by E.C. Segar.

The creator of Popeye had at one time been a movie projectionist and his work was influenced to some extent by the movies. Segar at one time drew Charlie Chaplin comics. His most popular comic strip ( which introduced Popeye ) "Thimble Theater" had a name reminiscent of Ed Wheelan's "Minute Movies". The version of Olive Oyl seen in animated cartoons was clearly influenced by Zasu Pitts. Bluto was more or less a stock heavy such as Eric Campbell had played in silent movies. Oliver Hardy had also played the same type before being teamed with Stan Laurel at the Hal Roach studio.
