Pathe Announcement For 1928-1929







Pathe was at one time an important film distributor in the United States. Later their importance decreased, although they continued to distribute the Pathe news in this country for years.

Within a few years, Marie Prevost would be dead of starvation as a result of being told she was "too fat" to work in the movies.
 
 
 
Lina Basquette was one of Thelma Todd's friends.

Pathe had distributed THE PERILS OF PAULINE in the silent days.

Paul Terry's cartoons were at one time distributed by Pathe.

Pathe had distributed the films of Hal Roach. After that, they distributed the films of Mack Sennett.

 
Plenty of bathing beauties are evident, with Harry Langdon and Billy Bevan visible at upper right.
 
 
Thelma Todd appeared in one of the "Grantland Rice Sportlights" .

PLAYERS AT PLAY ( 1929 )







PLAYERS AT PLAY was a 1929 film which showed different movie stars at play. Thelma Todd appears at the end riding a horse.

PLAYERS AT PLAY was part of the long - running Grantland Rice Sportlight series, which took it's name from sportswriter Grantland Rice. This particular film is said to have had it's subtitles written by Grantland Rice.


The copy on youtube is accompanied by a song by Louis Armstrong, WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD, as well as another song by another singer.
