THE FIGHTING KENTUCKIAN

THE FIGHTING KENTUCKIAN was a 1949 Republic production which starred John Wayne and Vera Ralson. Also in the cast was Oliver Hardy in a rare solo appearance. He was quite good in this part and could have continued as a solo act in films, but mainly continued to work with Stan Laurel for the rest of his career.

William K. Everson Program Notes For SHIELD OF HONOR

Evidently SHIELD OF HONOR was on a film program with BEAU HUNKS, among other things, and William K. Everson wrote the following notes for the event.

Reblogged from https://www.nyu.edu/projects/wke/notes/titles/shieldofhonor.php

And yes, James Horne played Abdul Kasim K'horne in BEAU HUNKS.

Thelma Todd isn't mentioned. Reminds me of this author's book about Laurel and Hardy.

Mae West

Mae West could be seen as similar to Peggy Hopkins Joyce, or to Thelma Todd for that matter.

Mae West's first movie was NIGHT AFTER NIGHT ( 1932 ) starring George Raft.

AIR HOSTESS was a 1933 Columbia picture starring Evalyn Knapp which had Thelma Todd as the "other woman", a wealthy upper-class gal on the prowl who would have reminded people of Peggy Hopkins Joyce. Here is a little of this movie that someone uploaded to youtube.
