THE GAY DEFENDER was a silent movie Thelma Todd made at Paramount in 1927.

The back of this photo is stamped LOOK Library - presumably this was the collection of LOOK magazine - and someone later wrote in that she had died.

Ebay seler noted:

Linen backed glossy photo with borders of THELMA TODD from the 1927 film, "GAY DEFENDER" taken by photographer, EUGENE ROBERT RICHEE.  However, there is no photographer stamp for RICHEE, thus an unmarked photo by this photographer.

The photo that was stamped LOOK library said the photo was stamped "Portait by Richee", so it is likely that the others were all taken by him at the same time.
