Measuring 10 1/2 by 8 inches with 140 pages, the pictorial cover with cloth spine is bumped at the corners , crumpled spine, a little grubby with some soiling. Internally, toning to endpapers, some remnants of erased pencil scribbling to endpaper, a few marks and fingermarks but generally clean. A fascinating early annual of motion pictures.

“Castillo del Mar” is more than just a beautiful estate in the Pacific Palisades with unobstructed, white water views. It’s also the site where famed Hollywood starlet Thelma Todd was found in 1935, unconscious behind the wheel of her Lincoln in one of the lower garages, her death officially ruled a suicide.

Todd was a hugely popular comedienne who often appeared alongside the Marx Brothers and Zasu Pitts. She was also a successful restaurateur and mistress to Roland West, who owned the property. Carbon monoxide poisoning was the named culprit in Todd’s death, though she had two cracked ribs, a broken nose, and bruises around her throat. Adding to the mystery is the fact that the list of suspects is anything but short, plus she had romantic ties to Lucky Luciano.

What an Amazing piece of Architecture and Wonderful piece of Real Estate. The home exudes a touch of craftsmanship that is long gone and still looks incredible to this day. The views are beautiful and the terraced plots leading down the hill are an excellent use of the terrain and work well for the owners to develop and enjoy.

It is Beautiful with a midevil feel. Seems that it should’ve been built in another century. I remember Thelma Todd had to walk from her garage up dozens of stairs just to get to the front door.
