I am constantly searching the online newspaper archives for information about the cinema's golden age. While looking for news about Thelma, I found the following item from the April 3, 1935 edition of the "Los Angeles Evening Citizen-News:"
Thelma Todd Pays Fine on Speeding Charge
Thelma Todd, screen actress, paid $7.50 by proxy for speeding. The fine was assessed by Justice of the Peace Cecil D. Holland in the Beverly Hills Township Court and was paid by an automobile club. Miss Todd, who did not appear in court, was charged with driving her car 45 miles an hour in a 25 mile zone on Sunset Blvd. March 22.
