Thelma Todd made the movie CORSAIR under the name of "Alison Loyd" in 1931. Here are some promotional material for this film.
This movie was not considered a success and I don't know how hard anyone tried to promote it at the time. I've also seen similar promotional material for other movies, but most of the time I think what they did was to run "coming attractions" trailers and put up posters, rather than exerting any extra effort to promote the movies they were showing.
